The Theory of Meaningful Encounters is born from the discovery that every Other we interact with changes us. Every encounter, therefore, acquires meaning, and the more intense the exchange in the encounter, the greater the meaning it acquires. In the course of our life, the encounter with ourselves is probably the most significant encounter we can have. Understanding that we are experiencing this encounter is already considerable in itself. The encounter with ourselves is always followed by a personal transformation, a rebirth capable of making us a new Self. The encounter with the Different, the encounter with another culture, another idea, is certainly the most enriching and stimulating of comparisons. It is the most enriching and stimulating, because it is unexpected and unknown. A bit like Ulysses at the Pillars of Hercules: “I will go to the sea and see if I can, but I will go to the sea and see if I can.” “𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘰𝘴𝘤𝘦𝘯𝘻𝘢”; going towards the unknown, knowing it and growing ourselves is the beautiful part of human existence.
